Old vs. New
Last night I actually prepared a great meal. I grilled a terrific steak and made crunchy brocoli. mmmm...delish! I packed the leftovers for tonight's dinner and looked forward to it the entire day. After an exhausting day at work, I was so happy that I didn't need to cook. With the bonus evening time, I stopped off at the local grocery store to buy some fruits. Well of course, I bought everything in sight except for fruit.
When I came home the first thing I did after packing away all my groceries was reach for the fresh pita and hummus. As I began eating, I remembered my steak and brocoli which didn't seem quite as appealing as before. I grudgingly warmed up the meal and ate it as fast as I could - annoyed that I couldn't eat the fresh hummus and pita without a guilty conscience.
Why is it that I am always more than satisfied with what I have until something new comes along?
