speaking of adolescent experiences...

this pm i came home from buying furniture and realized that i had to purchase some things for my cocktail party next week. i was feeling pretty good about myself because i felt like an adult. cocktail parties & real furniture.

so i figured that i would just slap on any coat and shoes and run out for my 30 second errand...

of course, i bump into this guy i haven't seen since graduating high school. the ring leader of the "Posse" was loitering around smoking while i walked by in my CRAZY hair (unruly due to the lack of time for a proper hair cut & damp rainy weather), decrepid trench coat and stupid red mary janes.

wtf, right?!?! i was a complete fashion don't this pm.

blast from the past
i was by no means a loser in high-school. but in my WASP-only school, i was not considered attractive by my fellow blonde-haired/blue-eyed classmates. as i continued on with the casual banter i learned that the former high school posse king was now a CEGEP drop-out and full-time minimum wage shop-keeper.

it was obvious that my success was making it hard for him to keep eye-contact with me. but even with this shift in power, the memory of my awkward-self made me feel inadequate again.

finally, the guy goes on to talk about our 10 year reunion coming up...and mentions that even though 10 years have gone by, everyone is still pretty much - the same.

truth: no matter how much time has gone by, there is still an awkward, tomboy, fashion failure, crazy-bad-hair side of me just waiting to surface.
