Montreal vs. Toronto
This for all these people who are appalled that I could actually prefer Toronto to my hometown.
To get a health card and license in Ontario, simply show up at one office and both can exchange an out-of-province card for the Ontario ones. Total process = 30 mins plus some driving time.
To get a health card and license in Quebec: For the license, show up at the office in Henri-Bourassa. Fine, that is easy!
For the health card, a completely different process, office, government group that is not connected to the License office. Step 1: call in advance to get a registration form. If line is busy (which it always is), they hang up on you and you must redial. What is step 2? I don't know, for the past 3 months I have not gotten past step 1! Another alternative is to show up at the sketch office once to get the form in person. Then get all necessary documentation and go to the office in person a second time on a different day. From past experiences, I recall that this process takes more than an hour wait each time...if lucky. Once I waited 3 hours.
Total process: indefinite - maybe I will just hang on to my Ontario stuff until the next time I move. URGH!@!!!#@($*&!@#$^(*&!!
