You know you've made it when....

Starting a new job 6 weeks ago made me realize all aspects of success. I am genuinely happy with my success at work and I feel fulfilled and challenged with my new job. It's great to be good at what you do and to be recognized for it.

But be careful of the green eyes of envy. In the past 6 weeks, I have lost "friends" - people that I used to think would be happy for my promotion are actually ignoring me...I also experienced being bad-mouthed, gossiped about, etc etc. And the reverse is true - I also have lots of "new friends" who are suddenly interested in networking with me . Or in their words - go for lunch, catch up (was I ever close enough to 'catch-up' with you??)

So is it worth it? Absolutely.

It comes with the territory both good and bad. The faster one embraces this, the easier it is not to take any of it really personally.

In the end, your true friends stick with you through thick and thin.
