the off-season

basically after university, one can only really be close friends with the opposite sex when both parties are single (aka the off-season). otherwise, things get really complicated...

so what are the merits and downfalls of the off-season friendships?

merits:
- i can fully enjoy being single and not be lonely
- allows me to have a guy's perspective on things
- do "date" things like movies and dinner without expectations from either party
- can enjoy laughs cause boys are hilarious
- don't have to do girlfriend things like be girlie and sweet
- can live my life as i please without having to check in with anyone
- the guy can be your date for important functions which require a date
- could potentially be the back-up plan for family planning stuff (if i ever dare to pro-create...hahahaha)

downfalls:
- when you are not the girlfriend, boys tend to cancel last minute more often.
- the way boys treat you between the regular season and the off-season is really drastic. (once they get a gf, i don't exist anymore. i guess the same applies to me...oops)

so it's like NHL players enjoying Summer at their cottages and exclusive golf courses. it's fabulous living - but it's still nothing like the actual hockey season. and not nearly as exhilirating as the playoff season.
