I am changing.

This is my favorite picture from this past weekend in NYC. I love it because it looks exactly like PP and me. Happy + dorky.
We are in the pre-kids stage of life and it is really feeling like adulthood. A lot more responsibility and thinking before acting.
A few weeks ago, work asked if I would like to put my name down to be part of some crazy Olympics-related thingy in 2010. And I did as I always did - gave it 2 seconds of thought and signed up! As I was about to press the "send" button, I paused... I realized that in 2010, I would be 31 years old. My next thought was "what if I am pregnant or have a little baby already?". I then knew that it was not the right opportunity for me. It wasn't related to my work and was more of a feel-good volunteer work event. So knowing that, I realized that it would suck to be 3 weeks away from home for something that was not that meaningful. Even if I don't have kids, I just would not want to be away from PP for that long for no real good reason.
I used to always value my impulsive nature. I was quite proud that I could agree to move cities in a flash or buy a house within moments of visiting it.
Lately, I realized that I changed. For a girl who never kept an agenda, I now like making appointments in my blackberry - I like booking things way in advance. I consult more before making a move. I think situations through before acting. I consider my future a lot more in my quotidien life.
I am not saying that it is good or bad - but I definitely changed.
To make a point, here is the list of things that are suggested I bring on my next vacation:
4 shirts/t-shirts
Sun hat
1 pair of shorts
2 pairs of long trousers
1 pair hiking pants/track pants
Hiking boots/ sturdy walking shoes
Sport sandals
Knee-length socks (to be used with rubber boots, if provided at the jungle lodge)
Any additional weight must then be carried by you in your day pack. To help achieve this goal we recommend that you carry travel sized toiletries, eg. contact lens solution, that you bring sport sandals that can be worn with socks (which are lighter than running/walking shoes)
Socks & sporty sandals??? Hiking boots??? For all the shoes I own, I do not have these.
Now you realize that I changed to want to go on a trip like that!
