Happy New Year!!!
I cannot believe how quickly 2008 passed by! PP and I both hope for more travel and adventure in 2009. A little story to kick-start the year!
Tonight, we decided to stay in our lovely Toronto basement to celebrate NYE quietly. We bought a lobster, tofu, chicken and watercress for our celebration meal. As well, we purchased a great bottle of wine.
Muga Resera 2004 - #65 of the Top 100 wines of 2008(according to the wine spectator).

To our dismay, our relatives do not drink and therefore did not own a wine bottle opener! It turns out that my father's side of the family is the only side that carries the alcoholic gene. We contemplated the options:
1 - no drinking on NYE (no way!)
2 - run to the neighbours and beg to borrow their bottle opener (ghetto!)
3 - rely on pp's engineering background
PP used a screw, a pair of pliers and a corner of the kitchen counter - and after 20 minutes of struggle...HE OPENED THE BOTTLE!!! yay
so with much anticipation, we both savoured the wine. BLECH! perhaps we do not have a refined enough pallet...but #65 of the top 100s was NOT as we expected!!!
these past few days, PP and I were very sad to leave our families behind in Montreal. but we realized one blessing. We were very happy to spend this time together and experience the joys of living as teenagers in someone else's basement! lol.
