half-way around the world.

so i am trying to be pro-active and avoid the usual mad-panic-3-hours-before-my-flight-takes-off type of packing.

but before i even pack - i decide to look up the weather info. 18ºC...i mean do i even remember that temperature?

what do humanoids wear at that temperature? i mean my whole sense of what 18 degrees is is off.

all i know is that i can leave the wool socks and thermal underwear at home.

with that in mind - i am late for my appointments and for work. so naturally no packing has been done yet. so i shall be once again - a victim of my own disorganization.

in case you thought my relationship with my dad was perfect...

so this morning i decide to slack off and get an extra hour of sleep. WRONG. i am woken up by this phone call on my cell phone from my dad in shanghai.

now you have to understand that i have been writing email after email asking him for advice lately. no reply. his response is always - i'll talk to you when you get here. so i've been dragging my sorry ass all over town - working 14 hour days WHILE organizing the personal stuff that i badly needed advice.

now at 7h00 in the morning (my time) he wants all the details. i proceed to tell him, he can't hear. i repeat myself - he can't hear. he proceeds to shoot question after question to which i have no answer. i literally have no answer because i didn't know how to handle a certain situation and had to involve a church uncle.

he goes "what? what's wrong with you - you're so rude. i guess you don't want to talk to me!!" click.

wow - that's cold. a transatlantic hang-up. it's the worse kind because i can't call back shanghai (cause its so complicated)

wtf. does the man have pms? wtf is his problem. like he'll only talk to me when he wants to? f that! so frustrating.

****he just called to apologize. now i feel bad dissing him on the web. meh. c'est la vie.

work hazards.

so it's really cold here these days. today, it was almost -40ºC with windchill. it was so cold that the walk from my car to the office (max 10 feet) resulted in frozen nostrils and eyelashes.

obviously i am mad-rushing to finish off stuff before i leave for Shanghai...and in absent-minded hurry I forgot to bring in my laptop to one of my work appointments. the poor thing was left in my trunk for 3 hours.

at the end of the day, i drive back to the office to check up on a few things. i start my computer and i get this message "disk error. warning disk error. press any key"

OH F!!! my poor lap top got HYPOTHERMIA. it was literally frozen solid. the screen has a layer of frost. i felt so guilty for mistreating it. and i was so scared because i really needed information on the c drive.

looking around, i was so desperate to gain access to the information - i am not proud to admit the following...but i saw that most people had already gone home...so...i did what any decent office slut would do...

i opened my shirt and hugged my laptop topless. look - i recently completed a first-aid course and learned that the remedy for hypothermia was to have skin on skin contact.

let's just say that i successfully "turned on" my computer and now all is well.

estique chinoise!

so i shht a couple speaking during the movies and their reply was "estique chinoise". of all the things they could have insulted me with - they selected my race.

as if i could be insulted by the mention of over 3000 years of culture and heritage.

such uncultured fools

viva italia!

one cooked pasta for my sister yesterday. another one sent me homemade christmas cookies via interoffice mail. last week, one brought me homemade pizza for lunch.

i love how much they love food too.

also, all my best footware, purses, dresses (and even jeans) are from italy.

for that, i will forgive marco polo for stealing our nation's invention and falsely claiming it as their creation.

apologize first

why do i usually apologize first? well a number of reasons. primarily, i prefer to get things out in the open.

some think that i am soft because i am quick to apologize. well often, i just want to move on to something else. it is amazing why people get mad at each other...

well some things in life are not meant to be easy - they are meant to push and test your limits of patience, tolerance, and self-control.

loneliness birds.

Bryce Courtnay used this term to describe his protagonist's state of mind in "The Power of One"

At this moment, with everything so wonderfully perfect in my life - I am feeling a huge wave of loneliness settle in my consciousness. The odd thing is that I am surrounded by friends, family, and love.

I suppose that we are all meant to be lonely at one time or another.

It's to the point...

where I don't even check the weather report anymore. I know what it will say - Cold and snowy.

It's great for ski-season. But lousy xmas shopping conditions.

**************************************

I swear that it is by the grace of God that I haven't contracted salmonella yet. I always undercook stuff and realize post-consumption.

I think I will stick to making coffee and boiling campbell's soup!

feisty forever?

My Photo

believe it or not, i had a very happy childhood. I just used to be pissed off and unsmiley.

anyways - a couple of nights ago, a friend that i used to see more often (like 5 years ago or something) said that i lost some of my feisty.

WHOA! is that even possible?

Whatever - I am sure its still inside me somewhere ready to surface at any moment.

I AM WOMAN - HEAR ME ROAR!!!!!!!

beggars can't be choosers - and definitely can't be proud...so I am calling out to all my friends in the 514 or even 450. if you love me, bring over some home cooked chinese food or at least take me out!

FIDEL

So i saw my favourite montreal designer store go bust. Like 30% of my wardrobe comes from there...WAHHHH!!! I'm so sad.

I heard about this warehouse sale on St. Laurent street somewhere to liquidate the merchandise.

I couldn't bring myself to go - seeing the masses pilfer through piles and piles of clothing like it was Village des Valeurs would have been too traumatic for me.

ah ouais! let's go les pitounes!!!

so i just came back dancing with my girlies. after a week long of work work - dancing is my greatest stress reliever.

can take the girl out of the party - but can't take the party out of the girl.
