L'assommoir.

Which means the axe, or beating stick. So that was the choice of venue for PP's 30th (minus 1) birthday! It was a non-birthday bday.

We had GTs which made me feel better about that horrific Air Caca experience from last night.

In fact, I had to spend all day working today due to an impending deadline and because I had to cut out of work early to take the pm flight. So that is the justified reason for my anger. Not only did I miss the event I was planning all month to attend, I had to sit in someone else's festering ass sweats and then work on Saturday afternoon.

ACK. ok so i guess i am still bitter about it.

cry baby?

in recent years - of the numerous times i cried (yes, i cry sometimes) 60% are attributed to sad movies, 10% are due to real-life sad moments, and a whopping 30% is single handedly due to freakin incompetent...

Air CACA. Air Canada is one of the worst airlines in the world. Pearson airport is equally unprepared and terrible. Match them up and we have a ruined soirée.

Many tears shed due to feelings of helplessness and general bad service and the ruining of plans.

f-kers.

home...

these past few months, "home" can mean two things for me. Our actual house in Toronto or our apartment in Montreal.

Anyways, this weekend I went home to Montreal. It was my first time back in 2 months. I PACKED it with brunch with Cat, shopping with B, Cheung family dinner, GTs back at B's apt, church, appointment with photog, FUNCH at l'étranger, more shopping at HR (c'mon it is 70% off!! a real actual live sale!!), more GTs...and finally a sleepy flight home.

This weekend, going to the Cheung family dinner freaked me out a bit (btw, PP is related to the entire south-side asian community) but it reminded me of how blessed I am to become part of such a great family.

I feel really amazed and undeserving of their kindness - everyone including obscur aunts with crazy hair treat me well and show me love. It is the best feeling to be accepted for who I am and loved inspite of my unsmiling qualities.

It should also be mentioned that my wedding photos turned out AMAZING. The photog is such an amazing artist. Looking at all the pictures - I can't believe how 2006 turned out to be the most amazing year of my life!

At the beginning of last year, I was running a thousand miles per hour with my crazy job. I was finally getting used to my first greatest purchase - my place and planning fabulous trips with my sister.

Who knew that PP would propose in May! Next came the new job in Toronto and the crazy move/wedding planning/new-job months.

My greatest memory of those chaotic months are the days my mother and I spent huddled around my piles of newly unpacked stuff. She helped me emotionally and literally through the move and the wedding preparations. It gave me a great opportunity to spend quality time with the people I love. But more importantly, I spent my last single days spoiling my best girls!

I couldn't help but spoil the bridesmaid and maid of honour with the lovely dresses, the meal at Rain (best meal in Toronto!), the hotel suite in Mtl - it was the best money spent. We had so much fun and I was so honoured that they would take the time to be a part of the greatest day of my life.

Finally, I am proud of my new husband. Looking at pictures of him remind me of his best quality. His heart. Watching him deal with a difficult situation recently reaffirmed the fact that we could be destitude in the future, but we would be rich with dignity, integrity, compassion for others and love for all of God's creation.

I look forward to 2007 - I have a feeling that God wants to teach PP and I to risk the stabilty we both value and learn to depend on each other and God more.

And finally for the 50th time this weekend, no we are NOT going to have babies anytime soon!!

dilarang merokok!

that's what i learned this christmas vacation! (no smoking in malay. heehee)

GTs were had in Shanghai and Malaysia. i don't feel like sharing pics because i'm lazy.

in general, this vaca was the best 5 pounds gained EVER! we ate like pigs and enjoyed each others' company.

Malaysia was amazing. We heart the Sheraton Langkawi Resort. people are really chill on that island and there was a lot of low key stuff to do. Food is great - for my Cantonese tastebuds, it felt like spicier thai food. Eventually, PP and I had to head out and find a good chinese resto. there's only so much red curry a girl can take!

Highlight of the trip was the sailing trip.
Lowlight of the trip was getting kicked out of the Datai. There is a "snobby whites only" clause that I did not see as I entered which subsequently led to a pissed off doorman running after us to escort PP and I off the property. SHEESH - so warning to all, do NOT go to the Datai for your vaca. Spend your dollars or pounds or lira or RMB elsewhere!

Shanghai was perfection. Spent a lot of time watching PP and my mom cook up gourmet FEASTS. ok fine - here are some pics...

gourmet feast in process...
