like finding an oasis in the desert.

it's very sweet when my uncle and aunties treat me like a princess. they make my god-brothers move stuff around for me. heehee.

so chanimal and I bring our cars to the garage this morning - in the middle of freakin nowhere. we decided to walk somewhere while our cars were being serviced. we were walking around for an ETERNITY: we were bored, cold, and starving.

then we saw it. the golden arches.

and chan says: "this is like finding an oasis in the desert!"

brothers can be hilarious.

payback time!

this is for all the years that I took my mother for granted, now it is payback time. fancy how i used to think that dinner would just magically appear on the table and that my dry cleaning would somehow go from "pile on my room floor" to "hanging clean in my closet".

SIGH................

Fabulous purses.

This weekend, I had the chance to meet up with some old/good friends for dinner and then lunch the following day. It is great to meet up with people who have known you for years. No false pretenses - everything is direct and straight-forward. What a night of laughter ;)

During dinner, BH noticed my fabulous purse - she had one too. Hers was a gift from her beloved bf. Mine was a gift from a perfect gentleman.

Looking back, A.C. was the greatest man in my life. A dear friend and one-time boyfriend. One of those people that eventhough we broke up, there are genuinely no hard feelings or bad memories. What sets him apart from all the super-men that I've dated?

A is one of those rare men who genuinely qualifies as a gentleman. He is kind-hearted, responsible, dutiful, respectful, and thoughtful. I guess I am writing this because he truly impressed me recently.

After 2 years of not seeing my face and barely talking except for the occasional email, he granted me a great favour. I needed some information and help for a dear friend of mine. And he came through without asking questions and without expectations of anything in return. One might suppose that he has residual feelings for me. But knowing him, he was there for me because he is that kind of person. That's all there is to it.

I hold every potential man in my lovelife to him because how we were, reminds me of how a man should really treat his woman.

Dear A, although you will never read this, the purse is a representation of you - generous, tasteful, classic, sophisticated, and timeless.

Monday Morning MiSTACK!

I woke up SUPER early this morning to get myself to work by 7h30. It is now 7h30 and I am sitting at home waiting for the plumber.

I LOST MY EARRINGS IN THE DRAIN THIS MORNING!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a deesaster!

I'm so upset.

Gurlfriends

I miss my gfs. Especially on Friday nights when I am too tired to date - or be some sort of happy version of myself. I miss calling up one of my gfs and just going out.

Now that we're scattered to the four winds of the earth - I know that some lonely times have passed and are up ahead.

It is easy for me to meet people - but not easy to make good long-lasting friendships. I firmly believe that a person who is friends with everybody is actually friends with nobody. In life, there are only a few very special people that can form a strong connection.

chin chin to my ladies

YES - the plumber came and saved my precious earrings.

*5h04*

fack...that's the time i woke up this saturday morning. all week i look forward to sleeping in on sat mornings and normally - i end up waking up earlier than a weekday. maybe i'm just getting older. it's sick, i used to come home at around 4-5am now i'm waking up at that hour.

last night was super relaxed fun. dinner with a friend. we go way back. then i came home to read a book from cover to cover. yes i am a freak speed-reader.

***********************************************************************

book binge

This is my style - I get on a reading kick - I buy like 5 books and start them all at the same time because I have A.D.D. I read like a mad-woman for an entire month then I get bored of reading. With only 50 pages left in each one of the 5 books, I just give up. Then 4 months later, I start another reading kick and buy more books and start them all at the same time.

I have had friends/family/acquaintances who try to argue/cajole/reason with me. "50 pages, you could read that in 20 mins and then just finish the book!! DO IT! just DO IT!!" I rarely finish books I start...WHY?? Who knows - I just get bored.

If I finish a book - there are only a few reasons:
a) so good - changed my life (ex: biography on Zelda Fitzgerald)
b) so scandalous/mindless (ex: those shopaholic books - can you even call that reading??)
c) so beautiful and complete, the words and NOT the story inspire me till the end

so there you have it - the verbal diahrea of a sleep-challenged individual.

Smile.

I don't. I rarely do - except when I really mean it. Most people think I am very scary when I don't smile. boohoo.

Today at work, I read something funny in my performance evaluation: "Melanie has a very beautiful and contagious smile."

Very weird comment. So i guess it means that I love work so much that my happiness is just oozing out of me.

Anyways, it's proof that I do indeed smile sometimes.

Contrary to popular belief - I am not always angry.

Single and Fabulous?

Most days yes. But lately, no.

Friday nite here and all I have to look forward to is visiting condos and cleaning the toilet.

It has taken me over 6 years of dating the wrong guys. With the only result of having my purity in question. I still haven't found "the one" while my level of cynicism increases daily.

All this to say - I am bitter because I have to stay in tonite to clean the toilet. Faaack.

(sorry for swearing, mom.)

Dreamer, I am.

Five years ago - who would have thought that we would all be separated? For a time, it seemed as though we would always all be together for the rest of our lives...

I was the first of the bunch to venture out on her own. And now we are all over the world or about to go our separate ways.

So I am left with big impossible dreams.

I pray to meet someone that truly loves and understands me, completes me. And I want to travel the world with him - pick up and just go around the world to be a part of it. And I want my home to be near my sister's family. To raise her children with her - to see my parents every week. I also want to see my god-brothers every Sunday at church and serve God with them. Have weekly bbq's - share ski chalets with them. To just laugh and grow old together.

More shallow proclamations...

Five women I admire for their looks:

5) Alyssa Milano: I'm loving the tattoos/petite brunette...very naughty by nature...

4) Gwen Stefani: I love her style and attitude.

3) Fergie: she can shake it. that's hot.

2) Maggie Cheung: she hardly smiles - truly the greatest beauty of our time.

1) Angelina Jolie: did anyone see this one scene in Taking Lives? phenomenal.

Honourary mention: my mommie. because she captured the heart of the most fabulous man on earth. they spoil each other. she's so beautiful that she has younger white dudes writing essays in her honour. my dad bought her a sapphire ring recently just cause it was tuesday or something...he flies her around the world and adores her. she is very pretty. she's my mommie.

Opera night.

Tonight I am going to the opera with 3 computer engineers. One of them being my sistah.

I don't care what they think - the Opera is a really suitable event to BRING OUT THE LEOPARD SKIN PRINT!!!!! yes.
