Funch forever!

I think they are quickly becoming the highlight of my weekend.

I find it hilarious that I used to look forward to the weekend so that I could beat those expensive heels on the dancefloor and now I look forward to sunday brunch. Its called fast forwarding from 25 years old to 75 in just one year!

The only consolation is that everyone around me is growing old at the same rate as I am. My baby sister is turning 25 in 10 months!! My globetrotting friend is buying a townhouse! My younger god-brothers are entering the workforce and becoming fellow worker bees.

So before life passes me by here are my latest short-term goals:
- lead a more green lifestyle (use less energy, recycle more, never drive an SUV)
- Italy in 2006
- payoff mortgage in 8 years
- have first born before 35
- Change bathroom lightbulb

(looking at the present-state of my condo, these are definitely in order of attainability)

Funnies

Sometimes my mom makes me laugh so hard! I told her about shitsaster and a few weeks later she wrote to my sister "what a shitstake!!!"

Illusions

...the poorly chosen name of my new hair place.

I first made an appointment almost 6 months ago on impulse and NEVER regretted it! I mean the place has leopard chairs and a great atmosphere. Also, they use Aveda products only! Yummy.

The greatest part of Illusions is the owner - an authentic LAL (Little Asian Lady).

So let it be known that there are no illusions at Illusion!

Anyways LAL was telling me about how hard it was to own your own business since most people are out to screw you just cause they think that LALs seem harmless! SO true - I deal with tons of crap that a white dude would never have to deal with. But I suppose that if the LAL-factor wasn't around, there would be another obstacle.

LAL-factor. You heard it here. I coined it.

(so basically i've only managed to coin 2 terms this fall season - Shitsaster and LAL-factor. i am very disappointed with my performance.)

Still not sleeping. Not even close...Sadly, I have to be at work for 7 am tomorrow. This sucks...I guess this blog is to warn those around me that tomorrow will not be a smiling day!

in-'säm-nE-&

def: prolonged and usually abnormal inability to obtain adequate sleep

Etymology: Latin, from insomnis sleepless, from in- + somnus sleep

Clearly the author of this definition (ahem Mr. Webster) didn't suffer from insomnia.

As a subject matter expert, I can explain the several stages of this disease.

Firstly, the denial stage. this is where one plays dead and does not to move an inch trying desperately to convince oneself that they will be able to fall back asleep really soon (or just simply fall asleep really soon)

Secondly, the body-temperature issues stage. the victim will find him or herself boiling hot one minute and then freezing cold the next minute.

Thirdly, the super-mental stage. this is when every thought becomes intense. every small problem becomes magnified beyond sensibility in one's mind. solving life's problems become essential.

Fourthly, the mathematical genius stage. this is when you can count down the remaining "sleep-opportunity time" down to the last second. the thought resembles something like the following: "if i fall asleep right at this moment, i can still get in 3 hours 42 minutes and 3 seconds of sleep before i have to wake up again"

Fifthly, the surrender stage. this is when you finally give up all hope of sleeping and turn on your computer to blog the stupidest blog of your life.

NOstalgia.

So the first two letters just tell you to say NO to nostalgia.

Why? Cause it just doesn't help the present realities. Like think back to the days when I had tons of free time to sleep, chat on the phone, and generally be a freer person.

Sounds great but hardly objective since it was also a very tumultuous time in my life.

Anyways - just say no to nostalgia.
